The SLMPD Homicide Division is seeking assistance from anyone that might know of – or remember – anything related to a homicide that occurred in 1980 in south St. Louis.
Around 2 a.m. on August 30, 1980, 21-year-old Jerome Williams sustained blunt force trauma during an assault that occurred out his residence in the 2700 block of Rutger. Jerome died from his injuries on August 31, 1980.
A 19-year-old male was arrested for the assault at the time; however, charges against the man were taken under advisement and never issued.
Several witnesses were present during the assault but stated they didn’t see or hear anything. With decades having passed, the Homicide Division is hopeful that someone from that time could come forward to assist with the investigation to provide Jerome’s family with justice and closure.
