District 5 is investigating a shooting that left a woman injured on July 21, 2026 in the Greater Ville neighborhood.
Just before 12:30 a.m. on July 21, officers were called to a local hospital after a 44-year-old woman was dropped off suffering from a gunshot wound to her back. She was listed in critical but stable condition.
A preliminary investigation revealed the woman was inside her residence when gunfire from outside the residence struck the home. No other people inside the home were injured. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances around the shooting.
